Are you interested in watching Velasquez vs Dos Santos? Who wouldn’t be – this is easily the biggest heavy weight fight in UFC history.
So let’s give a quick recap of the fighter backgrounds, for the Junior Dos Santos vs Cain Velasquez fight.
Cain Velasquez is coming off a big title winning performance against Brock Lesner, a much bigger and stronger opponent. In saying that, what Cain Velasquez lacked in size and strength, he easily made up for it in skill and cardio.
Since that fight, the American-Mexican, has gained a very large fan base and has been increasing in popularity ever since.
On the other hand, there is the Brazilian, Junior Dos Santos, who is yet to be defeated in the UFC (he has one lost to his record, that loss was by arm bar in a minor league promotion). Since entering the UFC, Junior Dos Santos has been on what many have referred to as a tear.
His first win was against Fabricio Werdum, a man that went on to defeat Fedor – a guy who many considered to be the best heavy weight in the world. Despite the fact that Fedor had not actually fought any of the topic competition for the last few years (yes, I am somebody that said he was quite overrated, there was nothing more validating then when he was caught in that arm bar/ triangle by Werdum).
Anyway, back to the fight at hand – from their, Dos Santos has wins against other top level fights such as Cro Cop (although, it can be seen that Cro Cop is well and truly passed his prime). The Cro Cop fight was also stopped a little too early, if member serves me correctly, it was stopped do a mouse under the eye of Cro Cop.
JDS also has wins against Roy Nelson, who has one of the best chins in MMA – Nelson took an absolutely beating from JDS, who was still unable to knock him out. It was a clear win, but alas, a lot of people were left with some doubts about JDS’s ability to finish a fight.
There was also the fight against Shane Carwin, which was easily the toughest test of both their careers. Although the JDS almost won the fight early in the first round, heading in to the later rounds, Carwin gassed and the JDS had the win from there.
So who will win the fight between Junior Dos Santos vs Cain Velasquez?
If I knew who was going to win, I wouldn’t tell you, I would take all my money and bet it on the winner. That said, I think that Junior Dos Santos will win, by knockout in the second round. It should be interesting, I can’t wait.
